Outdoorsteps Camping instructs scouts and members of other youth groups how to tent camp. In particular, Boy Scouts will find Outdoorsteps Camping appealing and appropriate because it has relevant content for earning Camping Merit Badge, an award required for the Eagle rank. The DVD covers Preparation (planning), Proper Gear (choosing personal and group gear) and Protection (safety). Outdoorsteps Camping has four video segments: 1) A main video that covers the basics, from deciding where to go to choosing gear and living the Leave No Trace principles; 2) a segment on types of stoves and their use; 3) a segment on tent set-up; and 4) a segment on chuck boxes, a container for holding all items necessary for a camp kitchen.. In addition, Outdoorsteps Camping contains 18 pdf’s. They include food pyramids for planning balanced meals as well as several checklists — for personal and group gear, menu planning and food shopping.
